Archiving Policy

1. Digital Archiving

Frontiers in Humanities and Social Research is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content. To achieve this, the journal employs multiple digital archiving strategies, including:

  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): Our journal participates in the LOCKSS program, which allows libraries to preserve copies of our journal in a distributed manner. In the event that the journal is no longer accessible via our website, participating libraries can make content available to the public.

  • CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS): We also participate in the CLOCKSS initiative, a dark archive that guarantees long-term preservation and controlled access to the content in the event that it is no longer available from any other source.

  • Portico: As an additional measure, our content is archived with Portico, ensuring that the scholarly record remains intact and accessible even under extraordinary circumstances.

2. Self-Archiving Policy

Authors are encouraged to self-archive their articles in institutional repositories or on their personal websites. We allow and encourage the following forms of self-archiving:

  • Pre-print Version: Authors may archive the pre-print version of their manuscript (before peer review) in any repository or on any platform.

  • Post-print Version: After peer review and acceptance, authors may archive the post-print version of their manuscript (the final accepted version but before copy-editing and typesetting) in an institutional repository or on their personal website.

  • Published Version: The final published version (as it appears in the journal) may also be archived in institutional repositories or on personal websites after an embargo period of [insert embargo period, if any, e.g., 6 months, 12 months] has passed.

3. Third-Party Archiving Services

The journal is indexed and preserved by third-party archiving services and databases such as [insert databases like JSTOR, PubMed Central, etc., if applicable], which provide additional assurance of the availability and longevity of our content.

4. Institutional and National Repositories

In compliance with the policies of funding agencies, research institutions, and government regulations, we support the deposit of published content in institutional and national repositories.

5. Retention of Back Issues

Frontiers in Humanities and Social Research retains all back issues of the journal indefinitely. All issues are accessible online through our website and other digital platforms.
